Aurelio recognized by Human Factors and Ergonomics Society

David Aurelio, a part-time lecturer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and senior user experience manager at SOLIDWORKS, was recently made a Fellow of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFES). The HFES was founded in 1957 and is the largest scientific association for professionals in the fields of human factors and ergonomics, with 4,500 members around the world.

The HFES works to enrich and support the work of industry professionals and researchers to solve societal problems, focusing on collaboration, discovery and design. HFES Fellows are honored by their distinguished colleagues in recognition of their professional performance, contributions and service to the Society, and other achievements in the field.

As a member of the HFES, Aurelio is active in the Product Design Technical Group (PDTG), where he has served as product design award lead judge, program chair, and paper reviewer. Aurelio’s work focuses on industrial engineering and human systems, and he has worked in consumer product design and user interface designs for over thirty years.

He received a Ph.D. from Northeastern University in Human-Machine Systems, and has worked in academia and professional practice on user needs assessment and usability evaluation of products.
